With the industrial revolution, the complexities of demand and supply were not limited to need, but expanded to the new concepts of implanting desires and increasing the sales. This is where the emphasized role of advertisements set in. The history of commercials goes back to time immemorial; however it became integral part of business in the decade of technological advancements. Billboards, hoarding, printed ads, electronic media and radio announcements found its usability in the 20th century, but the dawn of 21st century adapted the most recent advertisement tools of mass distribution like internet, social media, emails and text messages.
Advertisements have now become the cornerstone of the business activity. A product is commercialized, months before its launch in the market. As the ambitions behind creating these adverts are to mobilize the public opinion in the favor of the product and to create a pseudo demand in the society. Now a days sale and purchase of a product is heavily dependent on its publicizing strategy.
Since advertisements are for general public or a specific target group of users, they have a great psychological value attached to them. The ads are designed in a way to exploit the weakness of masses. This aim is perfectly delivered by the help of renowned celebrities, players and perfect lifestyle, promises of a better love life or getting a new employment. One example of this is ‘LUX’ ad in which models are advocating the beauty soap as their secret beauty treatment.
In a nutshell, it is rightly said that you cannot sale gold with advertisement. A precious thing like Gold requires the crutches of advertisement for its progressing sale. Advertising is one of the strong modifying forces behind our changing personal and social life.
