Poverty in Pakistan
Poverty in Pakistan is a dreadful reality, a monster that is budding every year and engulfing a major part of the population. Scarcity is threatening the very fabric of society and causing a moral degradation in people. According to UNO’s definition, a person is living below the poverty line, if his average income is less than $2.
The recent era of macroeconomic instability and sinking economy has pushed masses in the vicious circle of paucity. The common man in country has to live hand to mouth and the existence of key demography is in shameful living standards. The incomes are mere meager and to add fuel to the fire, one person has to earn for whole family of 6-7 person on average. Insufficient sources have resulted in terrible outcomes like immoral activities, frustration, high illiteracy rate, poor living standards and weak health.
Moreover, the dilemma is unequal distribution of wealth among people. The rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. The governments have not taken any necessary steps to abridge this issue. The fundamental rights of a man i.e. food, shelter and clothes are denied and it leads them to take revenge from society. The ever increasing inflation rates challenges the survival of proletariat. People earning such miserable incomes are only thinking to keep their body and soul together.
A hungry man is an angry man, fits best in the recent terrorist activities across the country. The anti-state elements allure these oppressed masses and brain washes them. to tread on the path of prosperity, the government must pledge to eradicate poverty from the country through effective relief policies.
