Cultures throughout the world are marked by the mutual moments of cheerfulness. These events are called festivals and these are celebrated by the followers of that culture all across the world. The true spirit of tradition is accentuated in the festive atmosphere. Happiness and welfare are the forces at work in bringing prosperity to whole society.

Festivals enjoy an enhanced cultural value. Conformity to traditions and mores is highlighted. Set rules are formed and followed to make out maximum of these special days. The roots of establishment of a festival day may be attached to religion, social order or weather. Every cultural day has its own range of fashion, dress code, accessories, cuisines and set of obligations to perform. Social interaction is an indispensable part of these festivals. People mingle with their friends and family and take out time from their busy schedules to share the bliss with others. The deprived proportion of a society is also taken care of and benevolence of privileged becomes essential to include the deprived in the common harmony.

The cultural festivals in Pakistan are Eid, Basant, holy nights of religion, mela chiraghan, Urs and celebrations of rainy season and crops harvesting. Each of these days has a special cultural value and conformity to traditions in these festivities is the distinctive feature. Eid-ul-Fitar falls after the month of Ramzan and the food specialty is Sheer Khurma.
