BA English Essay: Pollution
Pollution
The Mother earth has been providing shelter to mankind for thousands of years. After the big bang, the earth was generous enough to make room for evolution of man. But since then we have been punishing the nature for its kind attitude. In the recent years, technological interventions have polluted the environment far beyond its capacity. Basically pollution is destruction the natural cycles and introduction of hazardous material in the atmosphere.
Pollutants include high concentration of oxides of Carbon, Carbon particles, chloro flouro carbons (CFC), oxides of sulphur and nitrogen, noise levels and over consumption of oxygen. The contamination of natural environment has caused many adverse effects. The most talked about one is the global warming which is basically the increase in average temperature of the world. The wastes of industries is damaging the ocean life and polluting the water and sea food we consume. Due to the smoke of factories, acid rain and smog are routine phenomenon. Destruction of natural cycles are causing imbalance in atmospheric ratios of different compounds and other effects include delayed rain, scarcity of water and impure crops. The depletion of ozone layer has increased the number of cancer cases and skin allergies in human beings.
Likewise, Pollution is the product of rampant industrialization. So the pragmatic steps to fight this issue are provision of green buffer zones around industries to absorb the pollution. The infected waste should be treated before discharging into mainstream. Afforestation should be adopted and people must pledge to reduce their carbon and CFC’s emissions.
Summing it up, Pollution is a great example that how science has facilitated us from one hand and backstabbed us from the other. We should be focused on developing new technologies which are environmental friendly, sustainable and healthy to use, So that we can protect our planet earth.
