IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. IELTS exam is taken by the people who want to study or live in a country where English is spoken as a first language. IELTS has two versions: IELTS Academic version and IELTS General training version.

IELTS academic version is taken by the students who want to study in a foreign country and IELTS General training version is taken by the people who want to immigrate to a foreign country.

There are 4 modules in the IELTS exam. The modules are listening, reading, writing and speaking. The candidate will get a separate band for each of the module above.

IELTS listening module

The listening audio will last for 30 minutes and the candidate will have to answer 40 questions. The IELTS candidate will have an extra 10 minutes to transfer the questions to the answer sheet.

IELTS reading module

The IELTS reading module will have 3 passages and the candidate will have to answer a total of 40 questions in 60 minutes.

IELTS writing module

There are going to be two writing tasks in the IELTS writing section. Writing task 1 will require you to describe the main features of a diagram, chart, or process. The candidate will have 20 minutes to complete this task and it should not be less than 150 words. In the writing task 2 the candidate will have to write a persuasive essay, and the essay should not be less than 250 words. The IELTS candidate will have 40 minutes to complete IELTS writing task 2.

IELTS Speaking module

There are going to be 3 parts in the IELTS listening module. In part 1 the examiner will ask you general questions about you. In part 2 the candidate will have to talk for at least 2 minutes on a certain topic along with answering the questions which are written on the cue card. In part 3 the examiner will ask follow-up questions.
