IELTS Speaking Modules Introduction

IELTS Speaking Modules
The speaking module of the IELTS exam consists of 3 sections. The candidate will have to speak in front of the examiner and he or she will get an IELTS band according to the way the candidate performs. The score would be anywhere between Band 1 to 9.

Speaking module part 1
Part 1 of the speaking module will last for 4-5 minutes and the examiner will ask 10-15 questions from the candidate. The candidate will be expected to answer the question in complete sentences. Examiner will judge the candidate on grammar, coherence, stress and ideas. The questions will be regarding the life of the candidate and he or she will have to answer the questions to the examiner who would be sitting right in front of him or her. The candidate and examiner will engage in a conversation and both of them would be speaking.
Examiner would be asking the questions and candidate would be answering the questions.

Speaking module part 2
In part 2 the candidate would be given a task card, he or she will have to speak on it for at least 2 minutes. There would a speaking topic on the task card and there would be 3 questions below the speaking topic. The candidate will have to answer all 3 questions in the 3 minutes which he or she is awarded. In part 2 of the speaking module candidate will be the only person who would be speaking and the examiner will remain quiet. The candidate is not permitted to ask for another topic.

Speaking module part 3
Part 3 consists of follow-up questions. The examiner is going to ask you 10-15 questions and the questions are going to be related to the topic which is given in the part 2 of the speaking module. Examiner would be interested in your opinion regarding the topic which was in part 2 of the speaking module. In this part both examiner and candidate will speak.
