People attend college or university for many different reasons(for example, new experiences, career, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Yes, I would have to say that a college or university education was worth it. The degrees I completed prepared me very well for my professional life. I acknowledge the fact that attending college or university was a life-changing experience for me. The engineering degree taught me analytical and problem-solving cognitive skills; moreover, in depth knowledge how to compete with others keeping a positive stance. But more importantly, these educational experiences created in me a desire to persistently learn and to grow. I acquired both cognitive skills as well as attitudinal and values skills that have served me well so far.
I am convinced that a person’s time in college remains the single-best opportunity for a person to explore who the person actually and what purpose does he or she really have to serve.It really helps to give them new platform to think about their career further.So many people get admission in college or universities with blank faces ,but better education and environment give them new perception to think about vast career opportunities and new phases of life. It enhances their mind to change their attitude towards so many issues.
Higher expectations and a push for timely graduation have also made students less concerned about the value of the education they are receiving, and more worried if their transcript will look acceptable. These higher expectations and a stress on practicality prevent learning for the sake of learning. If one attempts to be broad and take additional courses, one is often seen as strange and even looked on with scorn and for not finished them on time. With so many higher expectations, grades become predominant over self-improvement via personal questing and individual study. Understanding becomes contingent upon an institution that does not encourage going beyond the required courses planned out ahead of time. Though some enthusiastic students do find the time and willingness to pursue diverse and budding interests, most simply lack any desire to expand their minds for personal enlightenment and growth. Most desire to pursue an active social life instead.
The modern day educational system, which is more practical and structured, and less centred on personal understanding, is a product of the needs of a mass educated society. Rising tuition costs and higher expectations with shorter graduation times contribute to the feeling that deeper understanding is secondary to the grades received. Students rush through their college years without taking the time to explore avenues of thought that could broaden their perspectives. Practicality, not pleasant learning, is stressed due to the views of society and the numbers of people entering university-level education. Of all causes for the lack of concern for a deeper, more probing learning environment, the goal of a uniformly educated society has to be the most determining factor. To educate people on a large-scale, the education community sacrifices some of what made education so powerful, by shifting the focus from true understanding to academic achievement.
So in the end, college or university education is the key to enter in the new era of the universe by experimenting or discovering new gadgets, to abolish the myths of old times, encouraging other to take bold steps and yes it can change the history with good education and intellect.
